I love the simplicity of such a short poem. I wrote the first one in high school and the second in college. As a high schooler, I felt quite scandalous using the word “naked” in my writing. But the second one rhymes, which you KNOW I love. Do you prefer one over the other?
The Most Beautiful Thing
by Sarah Steele
The most beautiful thing
I’ve ever seen
was a naked tree
with nothing on
but frost and snow.
/////////////////////
The most beautiful thing
I’ve ever seen
was my family at
the airport gates
when I came back
to the United States.
What’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen?
(Tip: Keep it to one sentence, but breaking up the lines makes for prettier poetry.)
the most beautiful thing
i’ve ever seen
was the finish line
after fifty miles
of mud and sweat
I actually DO love this one! That WOULD be a beautiful thing to see. Although I never hope to experience a finish line in that way:-P
Ok, I’m not thrilled with that one. So I wrote another 🙂 I like this game!
The most beautiful thing
I’ve ever seen
Was my daughter born
And placed on my chest
All fresh and new
*tear* I remember your pics from your second daughter. They.were.beautiful. And that moment you shared with her. Priceless.
